Upcoming Events

Wow it has been a while since my last entry!

I do apologise it has been a very hectic few weeks here for us at KolbeeRae HQ. We have quite a few major events coming up soon by way of Craft Markets and School fetes as the year draws to a close! It all kicks off next Sunday 11th of November with the Mornington Racecourse Craft Market. If the 10 day weather forecast holds true then it is supposed to be a bright and sunny 26 Degrees! Perfect for getting out and supporting handmade as well as picking yourself up some unique presents for Christmas. Yep I said it...Christmas!!

Another exciting event coming up is the start of the Emu Plains Market located at Balnarring Racecourse. Full of fantastic local stalls you are sure to find something you love in amongst the gorgeous trees trackside.

I'm also looking forward to my first twilight market at St Josephs Primary School fete on the 23rd of November.

Who else thinks this year as just flown by?? In saying that I can't believe the year that has been. I definitely did not start this year thinking I would be where I am today. The way my little hobby business has taken off has surprised me greatly. I just wanted to show off my little creations to family and friends to start with and now I am able to create pieces for you and your little princesses too. It's all thanks to you! My wonderful, amazing and lovely customers. I would not be in this position to be so hectic if it wasn't for you!

I can't wait to see where the rest of the year will take me.

Hope to see you at the market next weekend!

Take care xox

Every story has a beginning.....

Wow! My very first blog! Who would have thought I would be sitting here thinking of something worth while to put down.

I suppose I should start from the beginning. KolbeeRae Designs (or KRD for short) came about when I became a stay at home mum to three beautiful kids. My eldest son is 6 years old now and he is a doting big brother to 8 month old boy/girl twins. They mean absolutely everything to me! They are a constant reminder that life is amazing and, although very difficult at times, very much worthwhile!
My very first creation 'Sweet Fanfare'
Vintage Lace Bonnet
I have never been a girly girl. My family and friends can testify to the fact that most days I don't even brush my hair (eeek!) but when I had my daughter I wanted her to be very much a little girl. I would always put her in gorgeous pink outfits and headbands and dote over how pretty she is. One day I looked at buying yet another headband from an online store and thought..you know what? I can probably make something like this myself. I wasn't very good at first. YouTube was my best friend while I taught myself sewing techniques and learned everything I could about fabric and embellishments. Starting with scraps of material from old clothes I made my first headband! I called it 'Sweet Fanfare'! It took me quite a few goes before I could even get to this point! Kolbee (obviously how the business name came about) never complained when I  tried new creations on her. I suppose there is not much a 3 month old could complain about besides the usuals. I started a Facebook page to let family and friends know what I was up to and from there things just took off! I have been developing my style over the last 5 months and trying to figure out what direction I would like to take KRD in. More recently I have been working on re-inventing the bonnet. There has been a really great response and I would love to see if I can help bring back the bonnet to a baby's wardrobe!
I love being able to match up headbands with outfits and am regularly asked by customers to do so.  There is nothing quite like getting an email from customer saying how much they love their item!

I want to use this blog as a way of saying THANK YOU! I will be running competitions from here and post handy little tips and tricks so you can create your own pieces. Thank you to everybody who has supported me from the start and to everybody along the way. I am having such a blast on this little business venture. It helps that I absolutely LOVE making hair accessories and I only hope I can continue to do so.
